Free self-defence seminar for runners
Sunday 16 July, 2017. Limited places!
We are lucky to live in a city that is generally very safe. But when there are reports of people being attacked while out running it can shake the confidence of many runners, who shouldn't need to fear for their safety while enjoying the sport they love.
We want to give people the confidence to carry on running without the fear of attack, so we are hosting our first free self defence seminar for runners.
|Time||Sunday 16 July|
|Place||Edinburgh, Inverleith park (by the monument)|
If you haven't heard of Krav Maga before, it's a highly instinctive and effective form of self defence, based on simple moves, and aimed at training safely in a realistic way.
In this seminar you will learn about situational awareness, avoidance, de-escalation, and simple self defence moves to deal with common attacks. In the seminar we will go for a short run, with training in different locations along the way, where we will look at possible threats, danger signs to pay attention to, and what you can do if you run into danger.
The seminar takes place on July 16th, 11-2, starting by the monument in Inverleith Park. No experience or equipment is necessary, just whatever you'd normally wear to run in.
It's completely free to take part. Donations are encouraged to Rape Crisis Scotland.
— See you there!
