Six-week Women's Self-defence course
Monday 18 January - Monday 22 February, 2016. From 18:00 to 19:30.
This course is ideal if you want to learn self-defence and prefer training in a women-only group. It focuses on situations that are particularly relevant for women. You will learn techniques from the Israeli self-defence system Krav Maga, which is widely recognized as the most effective self-defence system in the world. Unlike most martial arts, it is purely a self-defence system and not a sport, so dirty tricks are not only allowed but encouraged. Each session is a functional workout where you learn important skills and develop your fitness in one go.
The course is taught by the only female KMG certified Krav Maga instructor teaching in Scotland.
- Learn no-nonsense self-defence techniques
- Attacking to vulnerable points
- Releases from hand grabs
- Releases from chokes
- Deal with threatening situations
- Defend yourself and the people you care about
This course is designed for complete beginners, so no experience is required. You don’t have to be super-fit to take part; the aim of this course is to provide you with tools and techniques for self-defence that work for you. Krav maga is designed to work in real life, in all sorts of conditions, against larger opponents, and from positions of disadvantage. Techniques in the system are made to stop an attacker as quickly and effectively as possible, so that you can stay safe.
The price for the whole course is only £60, or £45 for students. Six evening sessions, once a week for 6 weeks, starting Monday 18 January.

All sessions: on Mondays from 18:00 to 19:30 at the North Merchiston Club.
